SIX OPENING SPEECHES

During the period from September to December 2001 the House of Lords met six times to debate the events of September 11th, the unfolding global campaign against terrorism and the Afghanistan operation.
On each occasion the Government motion was moved either by Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean or by Lord Bach and David Howell (Lord Howell of Guildford) gave the opening reply from the Opposition in a broadly supportive vein.
Since such occasions get little reported in the media these opening speeches are collated herewith for reference.

Friday, September 14th: Thursday, October 4th: Monday, October 8th: Thursday, October 18th: Monday, November 5th: Monday December 17th.
